Weekly Learning Update

By the end of the week, your child should be able to: Math identify how many ones and tens there are  in a given  number, and draw the number using tens blocks.  For example: 21 has 2 tens and 1 one! expand a two digit number into a math equation. For example: 20+1=21   Social Studies   Explain who Terry Fox was and why what he did is important. Explain what Orange Shirt day is and why it is important. Literacy identify a sentence versus a non-sentence.  For example: There is a stick under the door. versus stick under the door     Sharing Our Learning     Action Patterns! Ask your child to show you the action pattern he/she did last week.  If they don't remember, encourage him/her to make a new one!

Keeler Communication

Dear Keeler Families,  Our principal Kenny Yeung sent out a principal’s message via school messenger last week.  The message will go directly to your email (Please contact Ms. Woznow in the office if you have changed your email address after submitting your demographic verification form at the end of August).  As mentioned in our previous post, the school is committing to a communication plan to ensure parents are connected to the school and their childs’ learning. Mr. Yeung will be sending out weekly messages via   school messenger . Messages will include school wide important dates and reminders, as well as, resources, system/school updates and anything that will keep our community informed (No messages involving sales or promotion of any products or services will be in these messages). A   class blog   is where we will be posting student work, assessments (ie. Rubrics) and questions for parents to have a better understanding of their child’s learning....

Announcements/Reminders

No school on Friday.   Full day tomorrow (Thursday) Book orders will be due on Monday. Spelling test tomorrow (Thursday). Library will be on Tuesdays (next week we will make sure to remind the students!) If your child does not have a Keeler shirt, or it does not fit, please email your teacher or message us on Class Dojo by September 22nd.

Circle of Courage and Upcoming Clubs

Dear Keeler Families, Staff at Keeler continue to build routines and develop relationships with your children.  After talking to staff, students and families one of the greatest strengths of Keeler school is the “Circle of Courage.”  We had our first “Circle of Courage” assembly last Friday September 13 th  and will continue with the tradition of weekly assemblies throughout the year.  If you are new to the school, below is a summary of the Circle of Courage: It is the goal of Keeler school for the Circle of Courage to be integrated into every classroom, for every individual at our school to have a deep understanding of what it is and what it means. This will enable our school to become a community and to have a healthy school culture. The expectations of behavior can be reinforced through the pillars of the Circle. Keeler School's Marathon of Hope

KEELER SCHOOL’S MARATHON OF HOPE “If you’ve given a dollar, you are part of the Marathon of Hope.” – Terry Fox Dear Parents/ Guardians:                             Once again, Keeler School is pleased to be hosting its annual Terry Fox Run/Walk on Thursday, September 26, 2019. We will kick it off with an assembly starting at 1:00 pm, followed by the run/walk. As in previous years, our course will be mapped out on school grounds.  In the spirit of belonging and generosity, all students will be expected to take part in the run/walk, regardless of the amount of money they raise. As part of our campaign and making connections to Terry Fox’s generosity, we will also have classroom Terry Fox bins to collect Toonies for Terry (or whatever you would like to donate).  Our goal this year is $800.  Our great admin team has agreed to “get pied in the face” if we meet our goal. Teachers have said...
